Grand Theft Auto VI is now officially scheduled to launch on 19 November 2026. Here is everything Rockstar Games has confirmed so far, including the platforms, setting, main characters and the details that remain unannounced.

Last updated: 7 September 2026. Pixalrig will keep this page updated whenever Rockstar publishes confirmed information.

When is GTA 6 being released?

Rockstar lists the GTA 6 release date as 19 November 2026. That date applies to the currently announced console versions. A precise UK unlock time has not yet been confirmed, so claims about midnight access or regional launch times should be treated cautiously until Rockstar or the platform stores publish the details.

Which platforms will GTA 6 be available on?

  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Series X
  • Xbox Series S

A PC edition is not currently listed on Rockstar’s GTA 6 website. That does not mean a PC version will never arrive, but there is no confirmed PC release date at the time of writing. GTA 6 has also not been announced for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.

Where is GTA 6 set?

GTA 6 returns to Vice City and expands beyond the city into the fictional state of Leonida. Rockstar describes the story as following Jason and Lucia after an apparently easy score goes wrong, pulling them into a criminal conspiracy across the state.

The modern Vice City setting includes beaches, nightlife, highways and locations beyond the main urban area. Rockstar has published an official People and Places section containing more information about the characters and locations, although plenty of the map is still being kept secret.

Who are the main characters?

The two central characters are Jason and Lucia. Rockstar’s official description makes their relationship central to the story: when their robbery goes wrong, they are forced to depend on each other while attempting to survive the conspiracy surrounding them.

What did Rockstar’s extended look confirm?

Rockstar released an extended official look at Grand Theft Auto VI on 27 August 2026. It provides the clearest presentation of the game so far and sits alongside the first two trailers on Rockstar’s website.

The important distinction is that the extended look is official. Social media is already packed with alleged leaks and supposed insider information, but Pixalrig will label rumours clearly and will not present unverified claims as confirmed features.

Will GTA 6 run at 60fps?

Rockstar has not yet published a complete breakdown of resolution, frame-rate targets or performance modes for every console. The official site says the game “plays best on PlayStation 5”, but that wording alone does not confirm a particular frame rate or a separate PS5 Pro mode.

We will update this section when Rockstar, Sony or Microsoft confirms the final console performance options.

Are GTA 6 preorders available?

Yes. Rockstar’s official page now offers preorder options and lists an Ultimate Edition plus preorder bonuses including the Vintage Vice City Pack. Prices, stock and retailer extras can vary, so Pixalrig will separately track reputable UK offers rather than automatically calling every preorder a deal.

What remains unconfirmed?

  • The exact UK unlock time
  • A PC release date and PC system requirements
  • Complete performance modes for each console
  • Full details of the online component
  • The final download and installation size

Those details are likely to generate plenty of rumours before launch. We will update this page when reliable, official information becomes available.

Pixalrig’s view

GTA 6 is likely to be one of the biggest gaming launches in years, but buyers do not need manufactured hype. Our coverage will focus on confirmed news, useful performance information and genuinely competitive UK deals.
